June 14 Vaccination Drive for Ages 12+

Pfizer Vaccine to be available on June 14 Through a contract with Governor Abbott’s office, County Judge Joe Luna has arranged for the Texas National Guard to vaccinate people on Monday, June 14th, at the Crystal City Nutrition Center. According to Judge Luna, the Pfizer vaccine will be administered to anyone over the age of 12. “We want everyone to get vaccinated, especially students,” said Judge Luna. Vaccinations will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. at the Nutrition Center located at 1210 N. 7th Avenue in Crystal City. You will need to show up and get in line to get vaccinated. Anyone under 17 will need to have with them a consent form signed by their parents or guardian. Consent forms can be picked up at the Zavala County Judge’s office or downloaded below.

Texas Vaccine Requirements

State law requires students in Texas schools to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. This letter is to inform you of where you can obtain information about which vaccines your child needs to attend school and to remind you to get your child vaccinated early— before the busy back-to-school season. Getting your child vaccinated not only protects your child’s health, but also that of your community. To determine the specific vaccines that are required for your child’s grade level, please refer to the Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements for Students in Grades K-12. Second Grade Virtual Learning Days

***Attention 2nd Grade Parents***** Virtual Learning Days Next week Second-grade students will have virtual learning days on Tuesday, May 11th, and Wednesday, May 12th of next week due to STAAR testing days. All second graders will work on self-paced lessons from home. Second-grade teachers will not go live these two days as they will be assisting as STAAR test administrators.

STAAR Writing Re-Test - Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Due to technical difficulties with the STAAR online platform, LDZ will readminister the STAAR Writing test this week. These difficulties were due to vendor issues and not local technology issues. Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13th, all fourth grade on-campus students, students testing in small-groups, and any students who were not able to access the STAAR online platform next week will test tomorrow. (Your child will receive an email if he/she must report to campus tomorrow or Wednesday). We will also send you a school messenger, and parents will be contacted by the teacher. All other virtual students who were able to access the platform, but were not able to complete the exam will test on Wednesday. TEA has assured districts that any answers entered last week will be saved in the students' testing profile. Last week, many districts retested and were able to access the platform without complications. We are confident that LDZ students will not encounter more difficulties this week. We thank you for your patience and your continued support of the child's academics. Tuesday, April 6th will be an at-home Virtual Day for all 2nd and 3rd graders. Fourth grade students should report to campus for the 4th-grade STAAR Writing assessment. **El martes, 6 de abril será un Día Virtual en casa para los estudiantes de 2º y 3º grado. Los estudiantes de cuarto grado deben reportarse al campus para la evaluación de escritura staar de 4º grado.

Distribution of Chromebook Devices 3rd Grade - Tuesday 2/02/21 4th Grade - Wednesday 2/03/21 2nd Grade - Thursday 2/04/21 Where: LDZ Cafeteria Time: 8 AM to 3:00 PM Note: *Tablets must be first returned in good working conditions before the new device is issued. Please bring both the tablet and the charger on your distribution days. *Students who have been discontinued from Virtual Learning due to Truancy issues will not be issued a new device. This device will remain on campus for the student to use on campus. *Parents of students who do not have a signed Attendance Contract on file must first meet with a school administrator to sign the contract before receiving the Chromebook. (Attendance Contracts were mailed only to certain students with Truancy Notices).
